One island – two countries. St. Maarten is Dutch while St. Martin is French. Border crossing – keep driving on the same road. Just 37 square miles this is the smallest island in the world to be divided between two governments.
I love this island. It is clean, beautiful and filled with friendly people on both sides. Shopping is great. The beaches are the best. Restaurants are outstanding. St. Maarten/St. Martin is the perfect island for relaxation and culture.
My family and I have traveled to St. Maarten/St. Martin via cruise ship 8 times in the past 6 years. Each time we are met by our friend and tour guide Jean “the dancing machine.” 6 years ago during our first visit to St. Maarten Jean was available to take cruise ship passengers around the island on a private tour. He was great and we got his card, giving him a call each time we come to St. Maartin. Our last visit was May 13, 2010 and Jean was there to great us once again, taking us to Orient Beach for the day.
We love St. Maarten/St. Martin and next time Jean picks us up it will be at the airport so we can stay at least a week!

Ever book a cruise and find out the price went down before you sailed? Then when you complained the cruise line tells your travel agent they won’t give you the new lower price because the new lower price is for “new bookings only?” Well Norwegian Cruise Line is now guaranteeing you the lowest price.
If you find a lower price for the same exact cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line after you booked and at least 48 hours prior to sailing then call your travel agent. Your travel agent will fill out a form and you will get on-board credit for the difference.
